This Dining Table and Coffee Table set was designed and built by the Architect for the Owner’s Residence in Flower Mound, Texas. Glass tabletops lay upon a composition of wood and steel. The wood is a Finnish Plywood with an yellow MDO finish more typically used for concrete formwork. The Plywood has been designed to act as one of the support points for each of the table tops. These wood supports have been cut in dynamic geometric shapes to expose and celebrate the layered edges of the Plywood. The welded steel tubing and plates that provide the opposing support points have been left unfinished and allowed to acquire a slightly rusted patina. The steel elements are fixed to the wood legs by oversized black oxide hex socket-head screws that have also been left exposed as utilitarian decoration.
